If you are looking for a book to read this summer, well you can take a cue from Oprah Winfrey’s selection of her book clubs next read.

The book, Behold the Dreamers is Imbolo Mbue’s debut novel. The book describes an immigrant’s experience in America in a warm and captivating way.

Imbolo Mbue is a native of Limbe in Cameroon. She holds a BS from Rutgers University and an MA from Columbia University. She is a resident of the United States and lives in New York City.

Her debut novel, Behold The Dreamers has won the following awards;

  • 2017 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and was named by The New York Times and The Washington Post as one of their Notable Books of 2016.
  • It was also named as a Best Book of 2016 by NPR, Amazon, Kirkus Reviews, the San Francisco Chronicle, The Guardian and the The St. Louis Dispatch
  • The novel also won the 2017 Blue Metropolis Words to Change Award
