Late Jean -Michel Basquiat  who was of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent was a  high  school dropout talented in doing graffiti on walls. His style attracted notice from the art world and for some years in the 80s, he created some pieces of art in his own unique style. He however died from a heroin overdose at the of 27 in 1988.

At Sotheby’s contemporary art auction some weeks ago, a Japanese billionaire, Mr. Yusaku Maezawa shocked the art world when he out bid others to buy one of Jean-Michel’s paintings entitled “Untitled” for 110.5 million dollars. The work, a painting of a skull, has sealed Jean-Michel Basquiat’s place in art history for all eternity.
